UAI Chapter 26

Episode 26

Bbokdol briefly glanced at Sejin, then stepped up onto the training pad.

Apparently having been holding it in, he peed for quite a while before calmly stepping off.

Seeing that, Joomin quickly wiped Bbokdol's paws with a wet tissue.

“Wow, he’s so smart!”

“Right? Aren’t you supposed to potty-train dogs?”

“Yeah. My friend’s dog still hasn’t learned properly and keeps having accidents!”

Everyone was impressed by Bbokdol’s ability to go straight to the pad and relieve himself.

After Joomin set the puppy down, Bbokdol finally started to get curious and began exploring the living room.

While everyone was still mesmerized by the dog...

“Oh my! Everyone’s so distracted by the puppy. Come eat before the food gets cold!”

At the housekeeper's call, they all headed to the kitchen.

“Hello! I'm Sejin!”

Sejin bowed politely, making the housekeeper smile brightly.

“Oh, hello there! I’m the housekeeper who helps around here. It’s nice to meet you, Sejin. If there’s anything you want to eat, just tell me. I’ll make it for you.”

“Yes, ma’am!”

Watching Sejin’s cheerful response, Hajin also greeted the housekeeper warmly.

“It’s been such a long time, hasn’t it? I really missed your cooking. Looking at how much you’ve prepared today, it must have been a lot of work. Thank you, and sorry for the trouble.”

“Oh, don’t be silly! I love cooking, so don’t worry about it. Now go ahead and eat with Sejin. You’ve gotten even skinnier—where do you even have weight to lose, huh?”

She patted Hajin’s back before quickly serving up rice to the group.

Hajin laughed and guided Sejin to sit next to him.

Everyone ate the housekeeper’s hearty meal until their bellies were round.

After the meal, the group moved back to the living room.

The puppy, who had been wandering around, climbed onto his cushion—as if recognizing it as his spot—and fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Watching this, Jaewon whispered in awe.

“Wow~ He really seems smart.”

“Seriously.”

Joomin nodded in agreement.

“By the way, did you name the puppy already? I thought I heard Sejin say something earlier.”

At Hwan’s question, Hajin replied.

“Yeah, his name is Lee Bbokdol.”

“Huh??”

“Lee Bbokdol? That’s such an old-fashioned name!”

Just as Roy said that, Sejin shouted.

“Uncle! I named him!”

“Oh? Sejin came up with it? Haha—on second thought, it’s a very classic and charming name!”

Roy’s sudden change of tone made everyone burst into laughter.

“Hahaha. But Sejin, why ‘Bbokdol’?”

Joomin asked kindly, looking at Sejin.

“Uung… because Bbokdol was abandoned, I named him that so he could have lots and lots of good luck from now on. And he’s a boy, so… that’s why I chose it.”

At Sejin’s heartfelt explanation, Hwan immediately scolded Roy.

“You! You didn’t even understand the deep meaning behind our Sejin’s name and called it tacky!”

“What—! You were thinking the same thing earlier, weren’t you? Why are you acting like it’s just me?”

“Me? I never thought that, not even once.”

As Hwan playfully denied it, Roy gave a baffled look, then quickly apologized to Sejin.

“Sejin, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize the name had such a lovely meaning.”

“It’s okay, Uncle. I forgive you.”

Seeing Sejin forgive him so sweetly, Roy rushed over and began smothering both of Sejin’s cheeks with kisses.

“Kyahaha~ Uncle, stop it~!”

“Nope! Who told you to be this sweet and adorable, huh?”

After enduring Roy’s flood of affection for a while, Sejin collapsed on the sofa from exhaustion.

The others laughed at the sight, and Jaewon suggested to Hajin and Sejin.

“Shall we go check out the house a bit? Sejin should see his room, right?”

“Huh? Yeah, let’s do it. Sejin, your uncles said they decorated your room really nicely. Want to go see it now?”

“Yes! I want to see it!”

Excited, Sejin sprang up with energy.

Jaewon led the way toward the hallway next to the living room.

“Sejin, the first room down the hall is mine, and the second is Uncle Hajin’s. Right across from his is your room. Let’s go in!”

Jaewon entered first and switched on the light.

“Wow~~!”

Sejin followed in and his eyes lit up in awe.

They had promised a lovely design back at the hospital, but the actual result was even more adorable and cozy than he imagined.

A big, soft-looking bed and cute decorations… And on one wall, toys and picture books were neatly arranged for him to enjoy.

It was the first time Sejin ever had such a nice room, and he couldn’t hold back his excitement—he bounced around, then quickly jumped onto the bed.

The bed, just as they had discussed, was a low-framed one so Sejin could climb on and off by himself.

Seeing how much he loved it, the uncles felt proud of what they’d done.

“Sejin, try lying down on the bed.”

Said Joomin.

“Like this?”

Sejin immediately lay down.

Just then, Hwan turned off the room lights.

And suddenly, a night sky appeared before Sejin’s eyes.

“Wow~~”

It was a surprise gift the group had prepared for him.

They had stuck glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling so he wouldn’t be afraid at night. To Sejin, it looked like a galaxy—so beautiful.

Hajin, watching his nephew’s wonder, lay down on the bed too and looked up, laughing.

“Hahaha! When did you guys even prepare this?”

“How is it? Do you like it, Sejin?”

“Yes!! I love it!”

Sejin quickly got up and hugged each of his uncles one by one.

“Thank you, uncles. My room is so cool!”

“Yeah. It makes us uncles really happy that Sejin likes it so much.”

“Let’s only have sweet dreams here from now on.”

After spending more time exploring Sejin’s room and the rest of the house, evening had quietly arrived.

Since they had eaten a late lunch, most weren’t too hungry and had a light dinner.

Cheolhwan and Minsu headed home, and after the housekeeper left, Hajin gave Sejin a bath.

Sejin, who had been up since early morning, was now nodding off, barely keeping his eyes open.

“Sejin, do you want to sleep with Uncle in his room tonight?”

“Mmm... no. I want to sleep... alone in my room.”

Even half-asleep, Sejin shook his head and made his intentions clear.

“This is your first night here. Are you sure you can sleep by yourself? Should Uncle sleep in your room instead?”

“No... I said alone.”

Even in his drowsy state, Sejin’s determination was firm, making Hajin sigh softly.

“Alright. But if you get scared in the middle of the night, come to Uncle’s room, okay? I’ll leave the door open.”

“Okay.”

Hajin tucked Sejin into bed, adjusted the blanket, turned on the soft night light on the bedside table, and left the door slightly open before stepping out of the room.

In the living room, the others called him over.

“Is Sejin asleep?”

“Yeah. He insisted on sleeping alone, even half-asleep. I guess he really likes his room.”

“Haha. That’s a relief.”

“Seriously, thanks for all your hard work, guys.”

“Oh, come on. We got to refresh the interior too—it was worth it.”

“Enough of the thanks. Go get some rest too. You’ve been going non-stop since this morning.”

“Okay. Just let me feed Bbokdol real quick.”

“We already did that while you were bathing Sejin—fed him and changed the training pad. So go rest now.”

“Alright, alright. I’m heading in. I’m pretty sleepy myself. Good night, everyone.”

After giving Bbokdol a gentle pat, Hajin went to his room.

The others, who had been playing with Bbokdol for a bit, turned off the living room lights and went off to their rooms as well.

And so, Sejin’s first day in his new home came to a peaceful close.

Early the next morning.

Still deep in sleep without any dreams, Sejin instinctively reached out to the warmth he felt at his side and hugged it closer.

Just as he was about to drift back to sleep, a tickling sensation on his face made him slowly open his heavy eyelids.

With only the soft glow of the night light, he recognized what had woken him—and giggled.

“Kyaaha~ Dol-i! You missed your big brother, huh?”

“Woof!”

At Sejin’s question, Bbokdol gave a small bark.

“Shh! Uncle’s sleeping. You have to be quiet, okay?”

As if he understood him, Bbokdol stayed silent and gently licked his face.

“Ehehe~ that tickles.”

Pulling Bbokdol in for a closer cuddle, Sejin stared into his dark, round eyes.

“Dol-i, this is your home now. From now on, let’s live happily here with me and our uncles. Okay?”

As if acknowledging his promise, Bbokdol licked Sejin’s hand once more and closed his eyes.

Seeing that, Sejin gently tucked the blanket around Bbokdol and closed his eyes again.

Soon, only the sound of their calm, sleeping breaths filled the room.

A few hours later.

Hajin woke up, feeling refreshed from a good night’s sleep at home. Stretching lightly, he immediately made his way to Sejin’s room.

He had half-expected him to come to his room in the middle of the night, but it seemed he had slept soundly by himself, even in a new place.

Peeking in through the slightly open door, he smiled at what he saw.

At some point during the night, Bbokdol had made his way into Sejin’s room and was now asleep, curled up in his arms.

Hajin quickly grabbed his phone from his room and captured the sweet scene of Sejin and Bbokdol sleeping together.

Then he quietly stepped out, washed up, and changed clothes.

When he returned to the living room, he found Joomin and Jaewon already in the kitchen, preparing breakfast.

“Oh? You’re up?”

“Good morning!”

“When did you guys wake up? I was going to make breakfast.”

Hajin rushed in to help, but breakfast was already almost done.

“What? You’re already finished?”

“We just laid out the food the housekeeper prepped yesterday. Go wake Sejin and bring him out.”

“I’ll go get the two lazy bums.”

Said Jaewon, heading upstairs to wake Hwan and Roy.

Hajin then went to Sejin’s room.

“Sejin, it’s morning. Time to wake up and eat.”

He gently patted his bottom, and soon Sejin stirred from sleep.

“Mmm... Uncle.”

“Did you sleep well?”

“Yeah. Dol-i came in early and woke me up a little, but then we slept together again.”

“Really? Maybe he thought you were his big brother.”

Hajin petted Bbokdol’s fur as he yawned in Sejin’s arms. Sejin definitely looked more lively today than yesterday.

“Your uncles made breakfast, so let’s wash up and eat.”

Sejin got up and headed to the bathroom with Hajin. Bbokdol, as if understanding, trotted out to the living room on his own.

After washing his face, brushing his teeth, and changing clothes, Sejin followed Hajin to the kitchen. There, Hwan and Roy sat at the table, still yawning, their hair a mess.

“Did you sleep well, Sejin?”

“Morning, Sejin and Hajin!”

“Did you two sleep well too?”

Hajin replied while helping Sejin into his chair.

Sejin, now seated, looked at the two and suddenly spoke up.

“Uncles! You didn’t wash your faces?”

“Uh... we were going to after breakfast.”

At that, Sejin smacked his hands on the table.

“No way!! People need to be clean! Being dirty is a no-no!”

“Ahahaha! Well said, Sejin. How does it feel to get scolded by your nephew, you two?”

Jaewon laughed heartily, clearly having given up on trying to get them washed earlier.

“Well… people slip up sometimes.”

Hwan mumbled his excuse, but Sejin's sharp, disapproving stare made him surrender.

“Alright, Sejin. I’m sorry. From tomorrow, Uncle will wash up before breakfast.”

“Me too, Sejin. I’ll be sure to wash up properly from now on. Just forgive me for today.”

Roy quickly added his apology.

“Okay! From tomorrow, you have to wash up before eating!”

“Wow! These guys never listened before, and now they’re changing just because Sejin told them to. After all these years, it’s enough to make me cry.”

Jaewon shook his head dramatically.

“Uncle Jaewon! Good job!”

At Sejin’s praise, everyone burst into laughter.

Once Joomin returned from feeding Bbokdol, he sat at the table and they all began breakfast together.

The table was packed with bakery bread, salads, fried eggs, savory ham and bacon, jams, marmalade, butter, and a variety of drinks for everyone’s tastes.

“I thought Sejin might not eat much with just bread, so I made some rice balls too. Try giving him some.”

Jaewon handed Hajin a bowl filled with small, bite-sized rice balls—just the right size for Sejin.

“Thanks, hyung. They look great. Sejin, your uncles made all this just for you. Shouldn’t you thank them?”

Hearing that, Sejin, sitting in his booster chair, gave a deep, polite bow.

“Thank you, uncles!”

“Haha! If Sejin eats it all deliciously, that’s thanks enough.”

“Yeah. Eat lots, Sejin.”

In the cheerful and loving atmosphere, Sejin began happily munching on the meal his uncles had prepared for him.
